these retaining walls are part of the identity of savannah. downtown savannah’s city outer borders have all been structurally retained by these massive and historic retaining walls. these carry so much life, character and identity to the city, not to mention the walls themselves as all these years since they were built have created a habitat for these new plants and other micro organisms.
