this is a city view from the highest point in tallin, estonia: st. olaf’s church. this was the tallest church from 1549 to 1625, still serves as a baptist church, and you can go up to the tower for this amazing view for just 30kr or a dollar. the view shows the contrast between the new and the old: modern grey and cold buildings compared to the colorful roofs and stone built structures.

behhehehehe…! this is for you dianer, happy happy birthdayday!
anyway, this awesome horned sheep with gold teeth got me in trouble as i snapped a photo of it. it’s owner claimed that i had to pay him for taking the photo as i took a photo of the sheep. hmm, very dodgy, but anyway the sheep was still unaware of the situation and just kept showing off it’s gold teeth.

this is a monument to jean sibelius, a finnish composer from the romantic period who had a very significant role in defining the finnish identity. this abstract monument designed by elia hiltunen consists of six hundred hollow steel pipes which represent the essence of sibelius’ music. being the first abstract monumet of finland, it has been strongly criticized through time as some of the finnish contributors prefered a more figurative representation.

another one of my favorites. just a snap of this special long grass from behind the de young museum in the golden gate park, san francisco, california. once again, the uploaded version doesn’t look half as good as the original (sharpness and colors), but still, the moment in which the photo was taken is still enough for me. this long wavy grass is just so light, flowing in the san francisco wind currents and reflecting into the sun which still illuminates even though it is officially set. for every strand there is a different feeling.

just up north from the university of california at berkeley campus is a very nice and pleasant designated area for professors and alumni to reside. as one goes up the old narrow streets, there is a strange feeling these streets gives, making you feel like if you were entering an old and remote european town. this photo was taken from the living room of one of these houses. imagine having this sunset everyday: berkeley in the bottom, san francisco to the mid left and the golden gate right in the middle connecting sausalito and the whole marin county.

another genuine smile from another old man in this city of lijiang. he might look a little creepy to some, but his wrinkles, beard and teeth are just a good sign of happiness to me. unlike most standing characters in disney, theis man was not posing, and not to mention being paid to smile and pretend. this man is the real deal, carrying on a legacy of traditions from the dong ba kingdom in lijiang, china.
